System requirements for Vox-O-Mat Phone

  • Windows 95 or Windows NT background
    • minimum 8 MB RAM, 486 DX 2-66 CPU for Windows 95
    • minimum 32 MB RAM, Pentium class CPU for Windows NT
  • an installed 16 bit full duplex sound card,
  • a microphone and speakers or headset.

How to configure Vox-O-Mat engine

First time when starting the program it detects the current hardware configuration and sets the most optimal settings. After all you may need to fine tune the voice system by selecting 'Setup' from the menu. The menu is available by either pressing the blue Menu button or clicking the right mouse button on the phone window frame.

How to inititate phonecalls

First make sure the phone is turned on by checking the check mark next to the 'On-Off' menu item in the phone main menu. If the phone is turned off the 'Call' edit field is disabled and letters or numbers can not typed in. Type the dial number or user identifier into the 'Call' edit field on the phone window the press the green up arrow or select 'Call' from the 'Call' menu. The target must be given in the
    userid[@tcp.ip.address]
    userid[@domain.name]
format. It is not necessary to use the full address form if connecting through a server and the server address is set at the engine 'Connection' setup page. The phone window displays the progress status of the call. If the target can not be reached (inactive, mistyped or refuses the call) the phone goes back to idle state.

How to accept incoming phonecalls

Make sure that the phone is turned 'On' and is set up for receiving calls by selecting 'Rings' item from the main menu. It is able to receive calls if the menu item is checked.
On an incoming ring the phone beeps or plays a wav file and comes to front to warn the user for the call. The phone displays the caller identifier and the name of who is intended to call. User can accept (answer) the call by clicking the greep up arrow or reject (refuse) by the red down arrow - or selecting appropriate menu item 'Call' menu.
Calls can be answered automatically as well by checking the 'Pick up' item on the main menu.

How to finish calls

During the call the phone displays the time elapsed. At the end of the call click the red down arrow or select 'Hangup' from the 'Call' menu. The phone will display the total call time.
