The Vox-O-Mat Phone Application
The Vox-O-Mat Phone Application is available currently for Win32 platforms.
It can make real-time speech connections through a TCP/IP network using a sound card.
For proper working it needs a standard 16 bit full duplex sound card installed and configured to allow full duplex operation.
For sound compression it can use two different kinds of built-in compressions and can be configured to use the installed ACM drivers as well.
The user can select the most suitable compression methods for the given hardware
- in case of a slower computer, use the slighter but much faster compression,
- in case of a slower internet connection, use the most effective compression,
- in case of a quicker computer, use the strongest compressions.
The application itself can also decide which is the best setting for the two parties of the conversation via its format negotiation.
The user can set the negotiation order and priority for the sampling rates, compression methods, available TCP/IP ports, etc.
The product is shipped with a friendly user interface, but custom user interfaces are also available for the phone.
Soon it will be open for everyone to develop 'faces' for the Vox-O-Mat Phone Application.
